The Evil One1381 viewsI was visited by the evil one while taking photos. Fortunatly she was too tired to try and jump up on (and try to destroy!) the layout.

Sand slopes441 viewsI have built up a layer of sand to form a nice even slope between the passing loop above, and the river. This hides the small drop down from the passing loop

England? Sun?!?440 viewsA nice COLD sunny winters day.

MDF Backscene432 viewsI have added on the MDF backscene to the layout. At the moment is is bare, but I have found a very friendly company called "LMS Printing" who are printing a large panorama that will strectch from one end of the layout to the other. This will allow for a seamless printed backscene, for a very small cost (only £16 inc delivery for an 100" long sheet).

Coal Tipple418 viewsA bit of coal dust and rust have been added to the Coal tipple to stop it looking as plasticy. The roof still needs some work. Possible some felt roof effect sheet.

|
Motor Drive418 viewsThe threaded rod was then connected to a Motor i got at Maplin via a meccano chain and sprockets (The sprocket on the threaded rod was filed out of a washer by me)

The Generator408 viewsThe powerstation has recieved a delivery from Carrol Island. The generator from the recently decomissioned Tipple Industrial Powerplant has been transported (by rail ^_^) to the Coal Mine.

Control Panel Computer394 viewsThe computer has been integrated into the control panel, by using the screen from a broken laptop, and a tiny computer motherboard. This will run JMRI which will control the signalling, block detection, and pointwork on my layout.

Traverser Table392 viewsThe table was glued to the bolts on the threaded rod, and also to meccano rods and free moving tubes at either end for support.

Threaded Rod = ?346 viewsBasically, my traverser will be moved side to side by a motor. I had to find a way to move the table top. I refined an ideaI saw on the small layout scrapbook to create this. Simply put, a threaded rod is place in bearings (from Maplin), and then 2 Bolts are put on. As the rod rotates, the bolts move one way or the other.

Rock Island Tree322 viewsI have added a little tree on Rock Island

|
The Mine Passing Loop306 viewsThe mine passing loop was made using Peco Code 80 Set Track, which has been easily joined to the Code 55 Single Slip - as is the way with Peco Track, its why i like it so much.

Feilds no more.301 viewsI decided that the grassy plains up on the hill looked too green and fresh for a semi desert, and also looked very monotone. As such I have added a layer of sand to the hill tops to make the grass look alot more patchy. Personally I think it looks alot better
